Christmas Break!

Hello!
A whole month off from school! Just what everyone needed (I think everyone would agree, too!).

The last day of school was a great day! One of my best friends got home from her mission!! Me and a few of her friends met up and went to the airport to welcome her home. Oh man, the last 18 months feel like nothing now that she's home. Seems like she never left :)
Well we hung out a bunch that week and that Friday we (Jessica, Aubs and I) went to pick up a friend she met on her mission, Ethan! We left Friday night and spent the night a
t Aubs' aunts house-- played games and just sat around with her family. It was fun. Then Saturday morning, we went to the airport to pick up Ethan. Afterwards we went right to the Las Vegas strip. It was a blast. I got to see the new addition. It was fabulous. I finally got to experience my first time at The Cheesecake Factory. Mmm!

This is us watching the water show at the bilagio! It was awesome. Ethan wasn't paying attention the picture
Jessica and I also got our Christmas tree over the break! The day after school was out. It was a blast. Our friend James from our college ward tagged along and helped us get it! It was fun, however, the snow was covering the full length of Jessica's legs. It was lame at the time, but so fun when I look back at it.

Our Christmas ornaments were so cute! I love them. Our tree was a little retarded but that's okay. We made it look cute!

For Christmas Eve I went to St. George with my Grandpa to my big sister, Lydia's house. It was fun! I love being with my sisters and nieces and nephew. It's great fun!

Then in conclusion of this wonderful Christmas Break, Jessica and I are going to Price to spend the New Year with my cousin :) It's going to be funnn! Then we have a week left to do whatever we want to before school starts.

It's been an awesome break!

Why I'm Mormon :)

Today was one of the most spiritual Sabbath's I have had in along time so I'm going to take this time and tell everyone why I'm happy with the choice I have made by becoming a latter-day saint.

  • The happiness that you feel from being a member of this Church is indescribable! I have never felt so happy in my entire life.
  • Knowing that families can be together forever. If a family member doesn't accept the gift in this life, I know through faith, that I will be with them in my next life.
  • The Book of Mormon. It's the true word of God. Without this marvelous book, I wouldn't be the member that I am, today. It most definitely serves as an anchor in my life.
  • The power of Prayer. I know, according to His will, that our prayers will be answered. Even if it is months down the road.
  • The Prophet. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet of God. That he get's direct revelation from God to guide us through our lives and show us what we can do to return with God and His son Jesus Christ.
  • The lifestyle of the Church. I was once asked, "What if you go to Heaven and find out that the Church isn't true?" Well, I know that it is the true Church. But if that did happen, I would know that I lived a good life and I wouldn't have changed it for the life of me.
  • Temples. The house of the Lord. Where you can leave the world and worries behind you as you enter the doors of the most holy place on earth. Where you can make ordinances with our Father in Heaven.

This Church, honestly, makes complete sense to me. Everything I learn about it just fits in perfectly and has the most explainable reasons.

That is why I'm a Mormon :)

Gratitude

Hello Bloggers!!

This is the season of being grateful for the things we have in life-- I don't even know where to begin. I have had so many blessings in my life this year I don't even know where to start.

To just name a few:

Family-
I don't even know where to begin! I have the best sisters anyone could ever ask for. Lydia, my biggest sister, practically my mother when I grew up. I couldn't be more thankful for her encouragement, uplifting and supporting attitude she has with everything. Candace, the second oldest (the middle child hahaha jk candace), is always there to listen when I'm sad. From stupid guys to the stress of finals. Jennifer, my wombmate, I couldn't ask for a better twin sister. It's weird how I can feel what is going on with each other. It's nice to know when someone knows I'm sad or happy. To have someone know you more than you might even know yourself. My sisters are the world to me. I wouldn't be here without them and their daily upliftings.

Friends-
I have amazing friends! Now that I'm in college I have the opportunity to live with some of them! Jessica, a friend since Junior year in High School and now my roommate. We were roommates once before and then moved out and we're roommates again. We are always doing spontaneous things. I can never get enough of it. Aubrie, one of the best examples I have in my life. She is currently serving a full time mission. I always look forward to the days I get her email or letter. She always has the most amazing words of advice to get through the hard times in life.

Opportunity of school-
I always dread school when I'm in the motion of it. However, when I look back at it, especially now that it's coming to a haul I'm so grateful that I can go get an education to only better my life. There is nothing negative about receiving an education and using it. It's a great place to be and it's only going to take you to a greater place in your future.

Service-
Like the commandment says "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Being in the Singles ward, I have opportunities to go to the service Saturday's. I haven't done that many... but when I do, I feel so good about everything. My day goes more smoothly and I also get to make someone's day. When I'm stressing out the most, I always like to take time to do something for someone else. Especially if they have helped me out, for example, in class. I would feel selfish if I didn't. My sister, Lydia, loves doing service projects and I can hardly wait to know what she's doing next and if I can help her. Yes, Lydia, I want to help you!!

Well, I think this is a pretty good list of what I'm most grateful for. Thanks for reading!

Love you all!

24th of July weekend

So I'm sitting here listening to my wonderful roommate play her violin-- I love it. She's pretty much amazin'!

So, it's the 24th of July weekend-- pioneer day! For the weekend we went to the Rodeo in enterprise. I love rodeos.. and well I'm going to admit, those good lookin' cowboys make it that much better :) We met up with Jessica's nieces, her sister Denice, and her Mom. It was fun! We stayed for a couple hours and watched some bull riding and saw crazy little kids run out in the arena after chickens. Who would do that? And why?? I have no idea. I hate any shape or form of a bird. They all scare me. When we were leaving the rodeo we kept seeing people sale their chickens to people. Like I said, why? People these days.. they're crazy.

Later on that night when we got home, we invited over a few friends and watched Cinderella Man. It is such a great movie. It makes me sad to see our economy get remotely close to that though.. the part where tons of men are lined up against the fence begging for a job is how it feels looking for a job now a days-- I would know. All in all though, that movie is awesome!

Now today, we went to Church. Me and Jessica really have a hard time getting ourselves to relief society. It's been like this for along time! haha. We just can't get ourselves to going. Especially when the wards are combined. There are toooo many girls crying about their visiting teachers bringing them chicken noodle soup. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but still. We are making a goal starting August 1st! We are going to all three meetings. We're going to do it and love it. Well... maybe. I do love sunday school and sacrament. Church is great thing and I would not change it for the life of me. It's the best gift I have ever received.

Well, I'll post pictures later of our adventurous weekend later.

p.s. On Friday night, me and Jessica did facials and we put oranges on our eyes because we didn't have cucumber. uh... bad idea!

oh the adventures Jessica and I have...

Hello friends,

Well I'm new at this whole blogging thing! I hope I can stick to it. If you know me at all, you should know I can't keep up a journal. I always look back and see I have not written in almost a year! So, like I said, let's see if I can successfully keep up on it :)

Today went from a miserably hot day to a wonderful relaxing cool night. This morning my house was soo hot! It has been hot for about a week and I was ready to fix the problem. Jessica got home and we went outside to see what the problem was with the nasty old swamp cooler-- the water line was switched to the wrong side and we didn't have water running through it. DUH! I was suprised that two blondes could figure it out. hehe. We went and got dinner and when we walked in our house, it smelt like POND WATER! It was repulsive. Soo.. I had a beyond brilliant idea; we tied air freshners in the cooler. Our house smelt like coconut and it was yummy!

This was our amazing ghetto swamp cooler with the yummy air freshners in it.

Not for long though- after about an hour our house now smelled like a "nice" coconutty pond-smell. Not good! We took our first trip to wal mart-- the adventure of the rest of our night started at that moment. We went and tried looking for chloride tablets that were NOT at wal mart so we went to home depot. We came home and put them in and some other smell goods in the swamp cooler. We then watched some "so you think you can dance" and enjoyed the cool air. After the show was over we didn't know what to do with ourselves so we decided to do some feng shui.

So.. me and Jessica rearranged our living room tonight! We were both antsy and so we decided to try something new! We love it. Well, at least I do!

this was the before picture..

this is the after picture!!

It took us a good three hours to do it! We had to take a few trips to the worst place ever-- wal mart. We probably annoyed the electronic boy to the point he wanted to hang himself with a cable cord. I'm actually suprised he didn't the third time we went back. It was an adventure but it was so worth it I thought.

We are now enjoying our new rearranged-air conditioned house :)

Well, that's it for my first blog!

Til next time :)
